School Tool Box Program

Parents,

It's that time of year again. You should have received an order form that was sent home with your child yesterday. If not, you will most likely receive it today. You don't want to worry about purchasing school supplies during the summer. There are no school supplies to select from by the time you get a chance to go to the store. You don't want to waste gas going from one location to the next trying to find the right supplies. Well, this is your chance to get ahead of the curve for the 2009-2010 school year and purchase a school tool box for your child now. The ACA PTA has made this easy for you. We do all of the work for you. This is not a fundraiser. The PTA does this in order to assist the parents of ACA and make the purchase of school supplies more convenient. All you have to do is complete an order form and return it along with payment to the school -- no hassle, no fuss. All summer long you can enjoy and not have to worry. Before school begins, we will have our annual Back-To-School dessert social in August, and you can pick up your child's school toolbox at that time. It will have all the supplies they need to start off the school year.

So don't delay! Get your orders in now and you will save time and money? Think about that lovely school box your child will receive before the school year starts. Remember, you have until Friday, May 29, 2009 to get your order in. Simply send in the order with your child or
submit it to the office.

PS. Book bags are once again being offered this year. Take a look and maybe you'll want to purchase one of those in addition to the school supplies.

School Tool Box Program

Make sure your child starts the first day of school the right way!

What is it?

ACA has participated with the School Tool Box(tm) Program the past three years. This program normally takes place in the month of May before the end of the school year. The program entails developing a customized kit of school supplies for the students at a price that beats even the local "Big Mart." The School Tool Box(tm) Program offers one-stop shopping for teachers to equip students for the upcoming school year. Students are provided with all of the school supplies they will need for their grade level, according to the corresponding teacher's supply list. The program uses only name brand products and guarantees total satisfaction.

Benefits

Listed below are some of the many advantages of using the School Tool Box(tm) Program!

* Consistent - Students have the exact school supplies for their grade.
* Convenient - The hassle of going store to store in search of the proper supplies is alleviated. And parents can still pay by credit card.
* Cost Saving - Primary School Supplies purchases direct from manufacturers, then sells direct to the schools. The School Tool Box(tm) is less expensive than purchasing individual items from retail stores.
* Quality Products - The program is committed to providing students and their teachers with the best tools to enhance the education process. Savings

ACA strives to make the School Tool Box(tm) Program the greatest possible advantage to students, service to parents, and benefit to ACA and its teachers. Here are some of the ways you save when you participate in the School Tool Box(tm) program.

Letter from Mr. Watts, School Administrator

Hello All,

I would like to thank everyone for all you have done to help keep the school running efficiently while I’ve been absent with both bacterial and viral pneumonia.

This efficiency hasn’t come about by waving a “magic wand” or by accident. It is the result of what has been accomplished over many hours over the last three years.

Thanks to Nick Di Croce for establishing a financial foundation upon which to operate. Thanks to Lori Di Croce for monitoring the finances and implementing administrative decisions. This has continued to happen because of her telephone calls and emails to me in which I was able to communicate administrative decisions to her from home and feel confident that they would be implemented.

Thanks to Danielle Cooper for effectively implementing the tasks that have been given to her.

Thank you to the discipline committee and PAC committee for your roles during this time. Thank you to the classroom teachers and our teacher aides for your commitment and diligence. Thank you to our parent volunteers who behind the scenes contribute so much to our school. I am so proud of all of you for in my eyes you are the “A” team.

Thank you to the students for their cooperation in order for us to maintain smooth day to day operations.

Thank you to our parents who often sacrifice to provide this education for their children.

Thank you to Pastor Brent for being available to open the plays and for lending his support.

Thank you to the school board past and present for your dedication. Chuck Pfeiffer, Marilyn Watts, Kathy Berkheiser, and Nick Di Croce you are much appreciated.

I also want to thank our PTA president – Damon Briggs – for the energy, vision, and the diligence he has given to this position.

I want to thank my sisters, Marilyn and Beverly, for their help with computer situations and for Beverly who takes care of School Dynamics, report cards, and progress reports.

I also thank the maintenance workers who have helped so much over the years – who not only do their jobs but also take time to pray for our needs.

This started out as a “Thank You” to those who have helped so much during the last couple of weeks. But as I thought about it, I decided to take this opportunity to extend a BIG THANK YOU to everyone. It is so easy to take for granted the things people do on a daily basis.

I wish all of our mothers a special Mother’s Day blessing filled with joy and happiness.

The secret to this success is the ability to delegate responsibilities to very talented people and then see them use their own creative talents in effectively handling those responsibilities. This is an opposite philosophy to micromanaging, and I believe it has created a dynamic pattern for success. All of you – you are the best!

I will be seeing you soon – “the light at the end of the tunnel” is getting brighter.

May God continue to bless and guide your lives as together we advance His kingdom through this wonderful medium of Christian Education. -- Wellington Watts

Registration for the 2009-2010 School Year is Past Due

Parents,

Please be aware that registration for the 2009-2010 school year is past due at this point. Book fees are due tomorrow, April 15th and computer fees on Friday, May 1st. While we understand that it may not be financially possible for some families to register at this time, it would be very helpful to have an idea of how many current ACA families plan to return next year.

A letter of intent will be sent home with students and we are asking that if you have not registered your child for the 2009-2010 school year but plan to do so, please complete the form at the bottom of the letter and return it to the school. Please keep in mind that this will not serve as registration for your family, but will allow us to begin to plan and prepare for the 2009-2010 school year based on an expected enrollment. Thanks so much for you help in this!

Funeral Service

Parents,

There will be funeral service taking place at Calvary Hill Church during the school day tomorrow. A very large crowd is expected as the service is in honor of a member of the church who was also a state trooper. The services begin at 9:00AM and will continue into the early afternoon. If you will need to visit the school between the hours of 9:00AM and 2:00PM, parking will be extremely limited. Calvary Hill Church has organized overflow parking at surrounding locations that you may need to utilize if you arrive during those times. Please plan accordingly. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this difficult time for one of our church families.

Because of the busy situation tomorrow and because the school is closed on Friday, we will be ordering pizza for lunch instead of the regular hot lunches. Please send a bagged lunch with your child if you would rather they not have pizza for lunch. Thank you!

Tomorrow is a dress down day for students. Students may pay $1 to dress down for the day.

Also, this is a reminder that your registration packet and fee is due by tomorrow in order to receive the $25 voucher per child toward the book fees. In order for your child to be registered for the 2009-2010 school year and receive this voucher, your registration fee must be paid with your paperwork.

Tomorrow night is the ACA Open House from 7:00PM-9:00PM. All parents are encouraged to attend. This is a great opportunity for you to meet with the teacher that your child will have next year!

Have a great night!!!

Teacher/Staff In-Service Day-No School

Parents,

I have several notes for you this week! It's a busy time around the school and a lot is happening. :)

As a friendly reminder, we ask that if you need to pick your child up from school early that you give the school as much notice as possible. The teachers prefer that you send in a note first thing in the morning to let them know what time you will need your child to be ready. If that is not possible, please contact the main office and let us know as much in advance as you can. We will then contact your child's teacher to let her know and she will make sure your child has his/her homework for the day and things together when you arrive. This avoids disrupting the class and saves you waiting time when you arrive as well. Thank you for your understanding in this matter.

As stated on the school calendar, there is no school this Friday, March 20th due to teacher/staff in-service day.

Make-up day for the ACA book fair will be on Thursday. If your child missed the opportunity to browse or purchase from the book fair during their scheduled time this week, they will have the opportunity to visit the book fair again on Thursday. You may send in money with your child to do that. Parents are welcome to browse the book fair as well from 2:00-4:00 tomorrow or Thursday and again during the open house on Thursday night.

Yearbook orders are due on Thursday. Don't miss your chance to purchase a yearbook for the 2008-2009 school year! The cost is $35. Checks can be made payable to ACA and sent into school with your child.

Keep in mind that if your registration packet and fee are received by this Thursday, you will receive a $25 voucher per child to be used toward book fees.

DVD's of the elementary Christmas production "O Christmas Tree" are now available in the main office for $10.

Phew- that's it for now! :) Hope that you are having a great week!

Open House-Thursday, March 19th at 7:00 PM Please Attend

Parents,

This Thursday, March 19th at 7:00PM is ACA's Open House night for the 2009-2010 school year. All parents are encouraged to attend! The goal is for you to visit the classroom teacher that your child will have for the 2009-2010 school year. Your children are welcome to attend this night as well- we ask only that they remain under your supervision for the entire night as this is a time for parents and children to spend together getting to know next year's teachers a little better. This will also ensure that our teachers are available to talk with you and answer any questions you may have. Teachers will have their curriculum on display for you to look through and they will be available to answer questions you may have.

This event is also open to the public and we encourage you to invite any families you may know that would be interested in looking into educating their children at Ambassador Christian Academy. The open house is a great opportunity for prospective families to see what our school is all about! If you need more open house fliers to hand out, please let me know and I will send them home with your child.

If you have any questions, please contact the main office at 856-881-3669. We look forward to seeing you on Thursday night at 7:00PM!

Props Needed for Musical and Spring Production

Parents,

As you know, many of your children have been working very hard in preparation for the upcoming spring productions. Now we need the help of our parents to get everything together and make these productions the best they can be!

K4-4th grade will be doing a musical called Arkeology (the study of Noah and the Ark). The children will be working to make their own animal masks and such. If you have any old animal costumes that you would like to donate or have your child use, please let Miss Cuoco know. Also, if your children have any animal print shirts, pants, or leggings, those would be very helpful as well.

4th-8th grades will be performing "The Miracle Worker". If you have sewing ability and would be willing to donate some time to help sew costumes from the early 1900's, please let Miss Cuoco know. We are also in need of the following items for this production:

-Men's hats
-Suspenders
-Wingtip shoes
-Ladies shoes that look like they could be from the era
-Parasol
-A pump for an old-fashioned well
-Wick latern
-Long dresses- something we could make to look like that era
- A wood cradle

Anything you are able to do will be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance for helping us to make these productions very special!

I have attached a revised calendar for the month of March. Please go to the website to view the monthly calendar. Please note that the book fair is the week of March 16th-19th (not the 23rd-26th as shown on the previous calendar). March is Here!

Parents,

It's hard to believe that it is March already! I have attached the March event and lunch calendars to this e-mail. Hard copies were also sent home with students. As usual, the Week at a Glance is also attached.

Parents, please make sure that your child's lunch account is up to date. Students who have negative balances on their lunch accounts will not be allowed to order lunch and must bring a bagged lunch from home. Notices are sent home every Monday with students who have a balance of $4.00 or less on their accounts. Please be sure to look for those on Mondays. We appreciate your cooperation in this matter!

ACA Scrip

Parents,

I have attached a current inventory list for ACA Scrip. The Scrip program has earned over $800 this year for ACA and families that participate. Buy a shopping card to specific retailers that you may shop frequently, and a portion of the cost is returned to your pocket! The Scrip program is also great when you need a gift card for special occasions. A certain percentage of every card is refunded right to you!

For more information about our Scrip program, feel free to respond to this e-mail or call the office (856)-881-3669. You can find a comprehensive list of all that is available through Scrip at www.shopwithscrip.com.

You can purchase Scrip cards anytime in the main office and for your convenience, Marcy Jenny sells Scrip every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday during pick-up times and also Friday mornings during drop-off times in the back lobby where children enter the school. You can also place orders directly on the scrip website listed above.

Happy shopping! :)

Weather ALERT

Parents,

We will be remaining open for the duration of the school day. However, there will be NO AFTERCARE and we are asking that all students be picked up by 2:30 this afternoon. According to the local forecast, the heaviest snow is expected around 3:00PM so we would like to make sure that all students are safely home by that time.

We encourage you to use your own discretion- if you feel that the conditions are getting worse and you would like to pick up your child earlier, feel free to do so.

Please be prompt in picking up your children by 2:30 so that the ACA teachers and staff can also make their way safely home before the conditions get bad.

Thanks for you cooperation and travel safely!

Farewell to Mrs. Knodt

Dear Parents,

I have attached the Week at a Glance for the upcoming school week. There is no school on Monday. Try to stay warm this weekend :)

Today we say farewell to Mrs. Amy Knodt, our 1st grade teacher. Mrs. Knodt has dedicated over 25 years of service to Ambassador Christian Academy. She is a wonderful teacher who has not only touched the lives of hundreds of students, but also the lives of those who worked alongside her each day. She will be greatly missed but we wish her all the best as she and her husband start a new beginning in sunny Florida. We love you, Mrs. Knodt!

Inauguration Day Plans

Parent Memo
From Mr. Watts
January 16, 2009

Inauguration Day this year is a historical event. We are planning to show this to all students on Tuesday, January 20, 2009. It was also suggested at the PTA meeting last night that Tuesday be a red, white, and blue, patriotic dress down day.

Students will not have to pay the usual $1.00 for this dress down day.

Scheduling an Appointment

January 14, 2008--From Mr. Watts

If you have concerns, it is important that we know about them.   However, both  principal and teachers have schedules to keep.

1. Therefore, please call the main office to schedule an appointment.

2.  Again, it is important to follow the correct protocols and discuss concerns with the teacher first before meeting with the principal. We will be experiencing some very cold weather the next few days. All recess/aftercare activities will be indoors the remainder of this week. Also, please continue to be aware of the various winter weather events that could happen and be prepared to have a plan for each.

Inauguration Day Plans

Dear Parents,

Tuesday, January 20th will be a historic day as the 44th President of the United States of America is sworn into office. This day is especially significant to our nation's history as Barack Obama is the first African-American elected to the Presidency. We will be showing the inauguration in the sanctuary on Tuesday and would like to invite you to come and watch the ceremony with your children. The official inauguration ceremony starts at 11:30AM. We will adjust lunch schedules and recess times if necessary.

Also, the ACA business office will be closing at 3:00PM Thursday, January 15th, due to a staff meeting. We apologize for any inconvenience.

We are in the process of putting together our yearbook for the 2008-2009 school year. If you have pictures of any school events (sports, class parties, chapel, first day of school, race for education, Christmas productions, etc.) we would love to use some of them in the yearbook!

If you have pictures, you can e-mail them to Lori Di Croce-ambassadorchristian@comcast.net. Also, feel free to send in the pictures on a flash drive or cd. Please make sure all pictures are in JPEG format.

Thanks so much for your help!

Reminders for the Week

Dear Parents,

I just have a few reminders for this week:

Our monthly Chick-Fil-A night will be tomorrow night, January 8th at the Deptford location from 4:30-8:30PM. Cards have been sent home with students. Please present that card when you make a purchase at the counter so that ACA receives credit. Every student who attends tomorrow night will receive a free homework pass for his/her class!

Friday is a dress down day for students. Students may pay $1 to dress down for the day.

Also, a congratulations to the boys' and girls' middle school basketball teams who both won their first games of the season yesterday afternoon. ACA stands undefeated :)

School Closing Information for Inclement Weather

School Closing Information for Inclement Weather

1. Delayed openings -- 1 or 2 hour -- (This could be a snow/ice situation that would be bad at regular time but with temperatures warming up, would be OK after 1 or 2 hours.) Announcements --same as school closing sources.

2. Early dismissal -- this could happen if storm begins after school has started and is progressively getting worse. Parents would be called including the possible help of room contacts. If weather is threatening like this, please have a plan B ready when you drop of children for school in case an early dismissal becomes necessary. Due to safety problems for daycare personnel, early dismissal would include daycare children also. Please be prepared to make arrangements accordingly.

3. School closed -- Announcements -- school web site -- TV channels 3-6-10-29 - KYW radio (1060am)

When we can, we'll try to reach this decision the night before so you can make arrangements as early as possible.

New Year

Dear Parents,

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year's! It's nice to see all of your kids again- although I got many phone calls this morning that some are home sick so I hope that they are feeling better and that we will see them soon :) I have attached the Week at a Glance for the current school week.

We will begin ordering pretzels tomorrow. If you would like to order pretzels for your child and have not yet sent in the forms and/or money, please do so as soon as possible. We will have extra pretzels for sale tomorrow. After tomorrow, we will only be ordering for those students who have prepaid.

Cards with school closing information will be going home with students. Our school closing number is on that card. I have also attached some information concerning school closings. Please take a minute to read the attached sheet to become familiar with school closing procedures.

Let me know if you have any questions- as we all get back to our normal routines after a long break. Have a great week!
