Changes-Mrs. Knodt's Classroom

Dear Parents,

As many of you know, Mrs. Knodt and her husband will be moving to Florida. Her last day at Ambassador will be January 16, 2009.

Mrs. Knodt has given 25 years of service to Ambassador Christian Academy. Her work here has been greatly appreciated, and she will be truly missed. We wish her and her husband God’s blessing on this new move in their lives.

It is our decision to move Mrs. Stanton to first grade to finish out the year. Mrs. Stanton has had two years of experience teaching first graders. There will also be some other adjustments within the school in order to keep the other programs going.

Wishing all of you a very merry and blessed Christmas,

Wellington E. Watts, II

Aftercare Information

Dear Parents,

We realize that there may be some concern about the procedures for aftercare pickup after the office closes at 4:00PM. Our aftercare staff have authorized pickup forms on hand that have been filled out by you with the names of people authorized to pick up your
child. Only people on that list will be permitted to pick your child up from aftercare.
Please make sure that you keep your authorized pick-up form up to date.

If you need to contact the aftercare staff after 4:00PM and notify them of any situation please call or text Leslie Charles at 856-889-6145. We are also in the process of setting up an email account for the aftercare staff as well that would allow you to send them an email if you need to make contact.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reply to this e-mail or contact the main office (856)-881-3669.

Message from ACA Principal

October 3, 2008

Dear Parents,
It’s hard to believe that October here already.  This will be a busy month with Race for Education being a highlight of the month.

We have needs that everyone’s participation will help alleviate.   First, we did not receive over $5,000.00 from the state in technology aid that we thought we would be receiving.  We still need to continue upgrading our computers and computer system.

Secondly, we also have not finished the security camera installations, which will make our security surveillance even more effective.  These and other school needs will be greatly helped by this effort.

We would like to raise $30,000.00 with this major fund-raiser.  All of the help you can give in this effort will be greatly appreciated.

We are trusting the God who can do exceeding, abundantly, above all that we ask or think to meet our needs and to bless you beyond your expectations for your help in this area.

In His Service,
Wellington E.Watts, II
Principal

Reminders for the Week

Dear Parents,

- We are still missing family labels for the Race for Education. It
is not too late! We would love to see everyone participate. Please
send in any labels you may have as soon as possible.

-Pretzel orders were due today. However, if you would like to have
your child order pretzels we will accept the orders on Monday as well.

-Dress down days are not every Friday. As stated in the student
handbook, dress down days will be scheduled only twice per month.
Parents and students will be notified via the school calendars and
week at a glance's. Any student that is out of uniform except for
these scheduled dress down days will be written up for dress code
violation. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter!

Enjoy this beautiful fall weather and have a wonderful weekend!

Thank you for continued cooperation.

Universal Health Insurance for Children

Dear Parent (s)/Guardian(s):

Governor Corzine has made a commitment for New Jersey to provide universal health insurance to children and affordable options for parents/guardians with the recent signing of new legislation. This new law mandates that all children age 18 and under have health insurance.

The requirement for health insurance coverage can be met in a variety of ways: (1) through a health insurance plan provided by your employer; (2) through a health insurance policy you purchase directly; and (3) through NJ FamilyCare which provides free or low cost insurance for children and their parents/guardians. Enrollment in school insurance only does not satisfy this new mandate. For more information about NJ Family Care or to apply, please call 1-800701-0710 or visit www.njfamilycare.org.

Parents or guardians who earn too much to qualify for NJ FamilyCare can purchase health insurance for their children at reasonable rates through another program called the NJ FamilyCare Advantage program, which is administered by Horizon NJ Health. For more information about this program, please call NJ FamilyCare Advantage at 1-800-637-2997.

As the law also requires, the New Jersey Department of Education is now assisting the New Jersey Department of Human Services in its efforts to identify uninsured children and to help families access free or low cost health insurance or visit www.horizonNJhealth.com.

Healthy children make better students! Our goal is to assist all New Jersey families in securing no cost or affordable insurance which will provide access to quality healthcare. If you have any questions about this new requirement, please call 1-800-701-0710.

Sincerely,

Lucille E. Davy
Commissioner
Department of Education

Chain of Command

CHAIN OF COMMAND
For Parents
The Biblical Perspective

“If your brother sins against you, go and show him his fault, just between the two of you.
If he listens to you, you have won a brother over. But if he will not listen, take one or two
others along, so that every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three
witnesses. If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen
even to the church, treat him as you would a pagan or a tax collector.” Matt. 18:15-17

In the spirit of Matthew 18, Ambassador Christian Academy is establishing the following
protocols for handling concerns that may arise:

1. If a problem arises, the first person to speak with is the classroom teacher to try
and resolve the matter.

2. If unable to come to a satisfactory resolution, the next in line is the principal.
After meeting with the principal, a subsequent meeting may occur which may
also include the classroom teacher.

3. If you feel the matter still has not been resolved, the next in line is a meeting with

Patriot Day

This is just a reminder that tomorrow will be a dress down day when students can wear red, white, and blue in observance of Patriot Day.

Tomorrow will count as one dress down day for September.  Dress down days will be scheduled twice a month throughout the school year and we will let you know ahead of time when those days will be.

Let me know if you have any questions!

An Invitation

Dear Parents:

Calvary Hill Church welcomes you to come out to its opening night for:

o National Girls Ministries (formerly known as Missionettes) - http://ngm.ag.org/
o Royal Rangers - http://royalrangers.ag.org/
o Rainbows for Pre-schoolers (boys and girls)

On September 10th, 2008 at 7:00-8:00 PM held at Calvary Hill Church. Enjoy Pony Rides, Food, Games and Music.

The Rainbows, National Girl’s Ministries (Missionettes) and Royal Rangers are programs for young people as young as preschool age to meet every Wednesday Evening at 7:00-8:00 PM.

The program is designed for kids to learn by studying God’s Word. It’s fun and rewarding. With the help of church volunteers, the girls will be learning flower design, crafting, scrap-booking, cooking and more. The boys are going to be making models, learning carpentry, archery, and the compass. All of these fun activities and projects will be rewarded with program badges.

The cost to join the clubs is $10.00 per child to help “offset” the cost of books and uniforms which are already being purchased.

Study Helps

Study helps for elementary students
Elementary studies lay the foundation for the future, so it is essential to learn how to learn and study, as well as to learn about individual subjects. The following are suggestions to improve the effectiveness of your study. We encourage students to begin with a proper attitude of the heart in receiving studies as from God, and in doing those studies as ―unto the Lord.

1. Schedule a regular time for study and start promptly without procrastination.
2. Collect all of the materials you will need and set aside distractions that interfere
with your attention.
3. Commit your study time to God in prayer before beginning your work. If you
have accepted Christ as your Savior, you are His child, and you are studying to
honor Him. He has given you the Holy Spirit to lead you into all truth; place this
time and yourself into His hands.
4. Study in a quiet place where you can settle yourself to your work.
5. Concentrate on the work at hand and refuse to entertain irrelevant thoughts.
Think! Study requires the active exercising of the mind.
6. Budget your time to cover all of your studies.
7. Cultivate the dictionary habit.
8. Review your work.
9. Do your own independent research and study on topics that are related to your
class assignments. Be curious!
10. Do your own work. Don’t ask for help unless you are absolutely certain that
you are unable to do the assigned work.
